¡¡Oh, esto es tan bueno como una torta ahogada!! ¡¡¡Excelente trabajo paisano!!!

You know, the old LBT made a lot of mexican skyscrapers, but almost all were from Mexico City (not that it wouldn't be awesome to have more buildings from there); it's great that you've given us some tapatío buildings, and with the highest quality, no less. Keep it up!

I don't want to be that guy, but I'm already being him, so let's go on.

The rating is, in fact 4,9/5, just for the little detail that the daylight ground map is a bit overtretched and too much sharp, making the jagged borders of the original image visible, the reflected objects too big (which contributes to the feeling of the tower being 'too short', even if it is on the precise height) and the environment hard to match with the building. With a more processed reflection (i.e. simulating slightly curved windows that deform the ground reflections) all of those details wouldn't be as noticeable.

In any case, the building, in its entirety, is definitely gorgeous and this silly nitpicking shouldn't overcome that fact. It's an instant download and a big thank you for dedicating your ever-growing skills to a latin american tower!

I don't know what creative drugs you have been taking, but keep taking them since they are working wonders.  Of course I don't condone drug abuse, in case big-brother is watching.  :-)  Your attention to creative detail in this work is amzing.  Thanks.

Another challenging  reflective one :-)... but I like the asymetry and the way we can play with it as a subtle gridbuster !

This month we're hoping for a little bit of a boost this month or next, in addition to covering the regular bills, we'd love to be able to do some hardware upgrades. STEX Collector's Set gifts can now be sent to you via digital download as well as regular mail if you wish! Every donation dollar goes toward keeping Simtropolis online and humming along. Your contribution is so meaningful, every dollar counts! Hardware Upgrades We've received a recommendation to consider some hardware upgrades to our ageing server. As our website community software improves with more and more features, and as we bolt on additional features such as chat, the increased load to handle all these new toys is taking the server a bit to task. You may have noticed that we'd been forced to temporarily disable the chat as we worked out allocating resources for more optimal performance. Following this, we've applied a number of 'soft' changes such as caching options and experimented with server configurations (nginx as proxy, for example), so the hardware aspect is also an area we'd like to focus on. The last time we upgraded hardware was back in 2012, prior to the release of SC13. Your contribution means a lot! Your donation will go toward helping us to 1.) migrate to a newer server or 2.) at least get some ram/cpu/storage updates and any other infrastructure hardware or services. Donate and Get a Gift or Donate Any Amount Thanks so much! - Dirktator & The Admins

In order to conserve resources, we've disabled the global chatbar at the bottom of the site. Instead, the Chat can be accessed by clicking the top navigation tab. It will launch a new window. If you're not seeing this behavior, try clearing your browser's cache.

The Pemex Executive Tower (Spanish: Torre Ejecutiva Pemex) is a skyscraper in Mexico City. The 214 meter (211 meters to top floor) international style tower was built between 1976 and 1982. Since the building's opening, it has been occupied by state-owned Pemex, one of the largest petroleum companies in the world.
The Torre Ejecutiva Pemex originally proposed to replace two 14-story towers built between 1967 and 1970. Later, these buildings were replaced by a pair of 26-story towers to house Pemex's administrative offices. However, the 1980s oil boom demanded office space growth and Pemex decided to build a single 52-story tower in a downtown lot with a huge plaza covering an underground avenue. The building is anchored to the ground, rests on 164 concrete and steel piles that penetrate to a depth of 35 meters surpassing the old filling swampy lake to reach firmer ground. In addition, its x-braced structure features 90 shock-absorbers to minimize oscillations from earthquakes. The tower was completed in 1982, but the surrounding plaza was never completed.
The Torre Ejecutiva Pemex remained the tallest building in Mexico for almost 20 years,[1] until August 2003, when the 55-story Torre Mayor was completed only half a mile away. Currently, the Torre Pemex is the third tallest building in Mexico, and the second tallest in Mexico City. The tower is currently occupied by approximately 7,000 Pemex employees.
On 19 September 1985, the tower withstood a magnitude 8.1 earthquake, as well as other strong earthquakes that commonly strike Mexico City. The building was designed to withstand an earthquake of 8.5 on the Richter scale.

      Introduction / Overview

I hope I managed to fix all these things and answer the most important requests concerning this building. The new stats will make this hard to get, but I think that you wouldn't want to have such a characteristic and unique building popping up every twohundred metres in your cities, so I made it to be a challenge.
All in all, you will find the following lots:

Ploppable landmark Ploppable functional CO$$$ Growable CO$$$ (2 lot sizes) Ploppable functional CS$$$ Growable CS$$$
The lots for CO$$$ and CS$$$ are different, but for each version, ploppable and growable version share the same lot design. Lot flora is randomized and will change every time the building grows or is plopped. If you don't like palms, you can use any of the existing "No Palm Tree" mods (e.g. the one by Swamper77, which I use myself) to have them blocked and replaced by normal trees automatically.

Note: Ploppable and landmark versions feature individual custom menu icons that will allow you to see immediately which version is which.

      Dependencies
Needless to say, since this is a mere set of additional lots, you will need the original building for which this set was created. You can find it here (click).
Apart from this unavoidable "dependency" (to ensure credit is given to those who deserve it), no external downloads are required for these new lots.
      Stats and Values
All game-relevant values you might like to know are listed in the following overview tables.

It's not only "old" buildings that are demolished in the name of the progress.
This building was constructed in 1959 and used to stand at the corner of Hollywood and Highland Ave, Los Angeles. It formed and framed a famous part of the view from Graumans Chinese Theatre down Hollywood Blvd.
It was demolished in the late 80s for the Hollywood & Highland project (i.e. where the Academy awards are filmed now).
While this is not an exact recration of the old First Federal Bank, it is a good example of the Southern Californian mid-century, heavy-set, mid-rise office building.
The beauty of these buildings is sheer quality of their materials: polished limestone with contrasting highly polished granite base, crittal steel windows and polished marble forecourts, but "progress", as well as the need to expensively retro-fit many mid-century buildings in shaky California saw these gems consigned to the wrecking ball.
To make it a little bit different, I've angled it 45 degrees for a corner lot as there really aren't many such taller buildings in this game and by doing this it complements a lot of the taller angled residentials from Sim Fox, Bixel, HKABT et al.
This building is offered as a growable high-wealth mid-rise building on all tilesets. It grows easily, but as it is limited to a 4x4 corner lot (there is one for both left and right corners) it isn't weedy. Hold the CTRL key while zoning to ensure that you get the lot size.

NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE:
This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite.
You must keep only one file - depending on which version you use. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. Regardless of which file you choose to keep, make sure you DO NOT delete the Lot or Desc files!
If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod:
