    This is my first upload to STEX, so feel free to give me feedback.
     
    This is a region map of Northern part of Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. Kagoshima Prefecture (鹿児島県) is a prefecture of Japan located on the south end  island of Kyushu. By 2010 it has population 1,703,406 . The capital Kagoshima is located in the Kagoshima bay. It has been nicknamed the "Naples of the Eastern world" for its bay location (Aira Caldera), hot climate, and impressive stratovolcano, Sakurajima.
    The map itself contains the northern part of Kagoshima alongside with small section of Miyazaki Prefecture in the northeast corner. Cities in this map include Kagoshima, Aira, Kirishima, Minamikyushu and Satsumasendai.
     
    This region has size 48x36 km square (16x9 large city tiles) about 70% of original. created using data from ASTER GDEM and edited using photoshop and rendered by SC4mapper.

  2. For my next map i,d travel to South America to the Republic of Suriname. Former Dutch colony, acquired by the famous land exchange with former New Amsterdam wich would latere became the famous city of New York. Great riches like sugar, rice and indegious jungle fruits compensated these allthought. Later in 20th century a large aluminium industry SURALCO in the east of the now independent state forms a large part of bulk of the local economy. South of Paramaribo there is the big brokopondo resevoir and the airport. Most of the tiles are jungle. Left corner New Nickerie district got a lot of agreculture, rest is mostly fruit or oil plantations. Left side of the map is a part of the british Guyana colony on the Right french Guyane wich got a large ESA rocket launching base, below there is only jungle up to the border with brazil.  Map made with Google Maps so by no means  accurate still nice size. Place the file in your region folder. Hope you like the map !

    Some years ago, i saw a traveling program on TV about russia´s golden ring or triangle.  This area is located north east of moskou and is famous for its ancient towns. Give some names like Pereslavl Zalesskiy, Rostov. Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Ivanovo, Vladimir. Moskou outskirts are about in the left corner, right corner goes just about Nizhniy Novgorod. Terraformed from a Google Maps satalite picture, the size is fictional, river volga and the lake of Rybinsk. Their are no trees or animals. File Ruska Golden Triangle must be placed in ther regions directory. There are some russian bat around maybe use some scandinavian´s This is my first effort creating something for the community, hope you like it !

  4. This is my first attempt at a map (and my first post, i think), so please go easy on me. I've downloaded so much awesome content from this site, that I wouldn't have felt right keeping this map to myself, even if it's not the greatest.
     
    My wife is a fan of the Hunger Games books, and thus, has made me watch all of the movies. While I'm certainly not a Hunger Games "fanboy", I thought the concept would make a cool SimCity 4 region map. For those of you not familiar with the stories, you can read all about it on the Wiki here... http://thehungergames.wikia.com/wiki/Panem. The short description: It takes place in the far future in post-apocalyptic North America. Panem, presumably the last inhabited nation/region on earth, is divided into 12 districts (formerly 13) and a Capital city. Each district is responsible for providing a specific resource (see attached map), and all of the resources funnel into the Capital, at which they live a life of luxury and lavish excess at the expense of the districts. District 1 is the "luxury" district, and its citizens live the least impoverished lifestyle of all the districts, who become increasingly poorer as the district number rises. District 12 (the focus of the Hunger Games books) is the mining district, and is a very poor district.

    The map is obviously not to scale, and is much smaller than the actual size of the continental U.S. This will be my first time building a region in SimCity 4, so I wanted to keep things pretty simple. In fact, I'm still researching the complexities of region play, neighbor deals, commute times, etc, so if anyone sees anything about this map that may present a challenge for building a region, or could simply be improved upon, please drop a comment below.
     
    The mountains are pretty basic/generic, and the rest of the terrain is very flat. Like I mentioned, this is my first map, so I'll admit that it's nothing special. Nonetheless, I hope you all enjoy using it, or it at least sparks some ideas for your regions or custom maps.  
     
    Lastly, a big thank you to all of you who create custom content for the community. You are what makes SimCity 4 truly enjoyable, and a game that will remain relevant and fun for many more years to come.

    INSTALLATION (there may be other methods, but this is the only way I know how to do it):
     
    The zip file contains a 16 bit grayscale PNG and a config.bmp. To create a region, you'll need the SC4Mapper program.
     
    Open SC4Mapper and click "Create Region". Choose "16 bit PNG" For "filename", navigate to "Panem.png" found in this zip file. Select "config.bmp" and navigate to the config.bmp file found in this zip file. Alternatively, you can leave "specify size" selected if you just want it to be all large cities. After the files load, click "Save Region", and name it Panem (or whatever you like) The SC4Mapper will create a folder of that name. Make sure that folder is in your Simcity regions folder. I use the Mac App Store version of the game, so mine is located at: /Users/username/Library/Containers/com.aspyr.simcity4.appstore/Data/Documents/SimCity 4 That's it. Just open Simcity 4 and load the region, and you can begin building your cities.

  5. Welcome.
    This is map of city of Wroclaw in Poland and neighboring terrain.
    Map is based on real hydrographic and hypsometric maps of Wroclaw.
    Map contains rivers: Odra, Widawa, Olawa, Sleza, Bystrzyca, Dobra and all existing bigger canals.
    Map is in possibly most realistic scale.
    Size is 24 x 16 km (6 x 4 big cities).
    To play it you need SC4Terraformer:
    1. Open SC4Terraformer.
    2. Choose directory of region containing my config.bmp file, press OK.
    3. In Global Tools import image Wroclaw.bmp (set Scale factor as Default). Import image as RGB.
    4. Click File, then Save.
    5. Open game and load created region.
    6. Have fun.
    If you have any problems, ideas or other comments write it below.

    Mapa jest w możliwie jak najbardziej realistycznej skali.

    Inspired by the Wild West, Frontierland is a fictional island region which features a mountainous terrain, along with natural harbours, cliffs and plains. Everything has been hand-made using a combination of SC4Terraformer and the game’s terraforming tools. The map has been designed with playability in mind -- hopefully this means there’s a balance between aesthetics and functionality. For example, there are certain areas which have been flattened to make building easier.

    To keep it in proportion, the region is 4x4, consisting of 4 large city tiles. The summit of the island reaches 5040ft (1536m) above sea level.

    Frontierland has been optimised for use with Lowkee33’s Appalachian Terrain Mod. However, it also works with the standard Maxis terrain, or any other terrain mod (standard or HD).


    INSTALLATION

    The map is contained within a *.SC4M file, which means you’ll need to use either SC4Mapper or SC4Terraformer to install and render it. For Mapper the config.bmp file is contained inside this, but for Terraformer you’ll need to copy the included config.bmp.

    I’d recommend using SC4Mapper, as the latest version is designed for use with modern systems (Windows 7 and newer).


    SC4Mapper
    Unzip the archive. Copy Frontierland.SC4M into your Regions folder. Start SC4Mapper. Click Create Region > SC4M Browse and select the Frontierland.SC4M file, then click Open. Click Save Region. Confirm the name for the region, and click OK to complete. The game can then be started and the region loaded. You’ll need to save all 4 city tiles to remove the pre-rendered terrain colours.

    SC4Terraformer
    Unzip the archive. In your Regions folder, create a new folder named “Frontierland” (or whatever you’d like to name the region). Copy the config.bmp and the Frontierland.SC4M file. Start SC4Terraformer. Browse and open the new region folder you created. In the Global Tools menu, click “Import image”. Browse and select the Frontierland.SC4M file, then click OK. Click File > Save and confirm. The game can then be started and the region loaded. You’ll need to save all 4 city tiles to remove the pre-rendered terrain colours.
    Once rendered, you may delete or move the leftover PNG files and the SC4M file.  
    Have fun!

  7. This map covers northern germany, southern denmark, eastern netherlands and western poland.
    Config.bmp gives medium scale cities to: (config preview)
    Hamburg
    Kopenhagen
    Amsterdam
    Malmö
    Bremen/Bremerhaven
    Lübeck
    Kiel
    Esbjerg
    AArhus
    Rostock
    Stralsund and polish cities.
    With some fantasy you could also add Berlin, Hannover and Wolfsburg.
     
    There might be an error regarding too much sand / beaches on the map.
    You can build zones on it but i recommend to remove them manually (one click hills and even terrain)

  12. McCall, Idaho
     
    This region is based on DEM data with small alterations for playability. The region is focused on McCall, Idaho and Payette Lake, with the surrounding Lick Creek Range.
    The image has been rendered with CPT’s Olympic Terrain Mod.  The region itself was terraformed to fit with both the textures of this mod, and the height at which rock/snow begins and I highly recommend it.  You can, of course, use any terrain mod you please with this region. (NOTE: Higher elevations have been left rougher, as this makes more snow visible with the Olympic Terrain Mod, if you use a different terrain mod that makes this roughness undesirable, it is easily smoothed either in Terraformer or in game.)
     
    Installing the Region
     
    SC4 Terraformer
    1. Unzip the file.
    2. Create a new region folder in your SimCity 4\Region directory.
    3. Replace the config.bmp file with the config.bmp file you downloaded with this region
    4. Open the new region in Terraformer 
    5. Click 'Import Image' in the Global Tools Menu and browse to the unzipped folder and select the map file for this region.
    6. When the file loads choose 'File' and click 'Save'. (The region is now saved to SC4).
    7. Load your region and play, the cities will take on whatever terrain mod you have (or the default SC4 terrain if you have no mod) as soon as you open them.

                    This region is based on DEM data with small alterations for playability. This is most evident in the courses of the rivers and the lakes, as these areas had to be adjusted in terms of elevation in order to appear as water.  This region focuses on the city of Bellingham, WA and Lake Whatcom.

  17. Good Afternoon,

    This is my very first scaled map and my very first STEX upload!

    This is a semi-accurate (precise) scale map of the Isumi District, Chiba, Japan. Located about 130 Li (65 kilometers) from Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. In contrast to Tokyo, this area is relatively sparsely populated due to its rough Geography. This map is centred in the town of Otaki, known in Japan as a fee (fief in the Bakuhan System) governed by the Honda Clan from the late Momoyama Period to just after the government of Tokugawa Iemitsu in the early 17th century, where the Matsuidaira Clan took over the governance until the end of Meiji Restoration.

    This is a terrain and scale-accurate map (sort of) of a part of Chiba Prefecture in Japan (that means it exists). It is 32km x 40km in size made up of all large tiles. It is in 16bits and .SC4M format. Wouanagaine's SC4MAPPER (or Terraformer) is required to load the Geographic Data (.SC4M) of your region. Remember that it does not render the map so it requires the end-user to open, close and save each tile in SC4.

    It is important that you read the README file before proceeding to anything!

    Howdy Folks.  A bit of an announcement; i'm quasi-retiring from the mapping and custom content business.  You know how it is; not enough time, definitely not enough motivation, too much RLS...  Anyways, my apologies for this, but i'm canceling any maps people had requested and am not taking requests for the foreseeable future.  But i'll still be around to answer your mapping and other questions via PM.
     
    I will, however, offer up one final map; my own personal gem. The Ring of Fire is a mashup of the SanFran peninsula, the Bavarian alps, the 3 largest cascade volcanoes (Rainier, Adams, and Shasta), plus a wee little Mt. Jefferson, and is stupidly huge, at 88x120km.  Requires 4gb patched game and mapper/terraformer to run, as well as 64-bit OS with 8 gigs ram. (might run at 6 gigs). 
     
    I know few people will want to tackle a map that large but i'll put it out there anyways.  This map is by no means perfect; there are several little photoshop wrinkles i haven't ironed out that you can see in the terraformer overview but that won't detract in game.
     
    Since it's over 100km on a side i'm invoking Drunkapple's large map mercy rule on not showing a rendered shot.
     
    Instructions:
    Mapper frequently performs better with large maps, but terraformer still works too.
    1.  Unzip folder
    2.  In mapper > create region > point to .sc4m file and config.bmp selectively.
    3.  Name and Confirm
    4.  Save

Askol'd Island, located in the Peter the Great Gulf, Sea of Japan, 50 km from Vladivostok to the south-east and 40 km west of Nakhodka (Primorsky Krai). Area is 14,6 км². Mountainous island, and lots of steep cliffs. In the past, the Chinese on the island was mined gold, now the island is located 2 lighthouse and abandoned military buildings.
