1. *Port Maarten Overview*
Port Maarten was founded by the Dutch in 1501 when a wayward sea storm blew Dutch sailors of their intended path. Upon their arrival the headsman and captain of the fleet of ships, Captain Maarten Prins, immediately claimed the area in the name of what is now the Netherlands and began his difficult 4 year journey back to his country. Today “port maarten” is a thriving tourist port of call because it boast pleasant Mediterranean like temperatures all year around despite their latitude being in the low 40’s and some of the most magnificent palisades ( palisades are an area where cliffs jut dramatically into the sea). Port Maarten proudly boast the fact that they are the most southerly point that can be reached on the Simcontinent without having to east or west to travel even further south.

2. G'Day Simtropians,

Today I am presenting a map requested by Paul999, thanks mate. It is of 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. Colloquially known as Den Bosch.

See me up CLOSE and personal.

This is a real world map and was produced with dem and satellite data. It is terrain and scale accurate and measures 57.344km x 32.768km. It's in .SC4M format and 16bits and requires one has either Wouanagaine;s mapper or terraformer installed to inport it.

Links and instructions are included in the readme. (always free)

I think that's all.

Cheers

3. [Extreme erosion manually added in an additional version, due to larger terrain scales] I had uploaded the true-scale version of this 7-stage region several weeks ago, and it was one of the most poorly rated in STEX history. Current evidence suggests that the file was corrupt, or wasn't uploaded properly. So, it's re-uploaded, with an 'extra erosion' version packed in. You must remember, you have to press 'download' and open up the zip folder and subfolders inside. The 7-map sequence comes in two sets, each with a working configuration file. One sequence is just at accurate size, at 3x the size of the 'small' version. The other is also 3x the size, but has a larger amount of erosion, and is marked as such. The config for the eroded folder is not there as it can be copied from the other folder, they are the same configuration, and the first stage is removed from the eroded folder because it is no different from the first stage from the other folder.

4. An Interesting challenge for any Sim Network Engineer.

1000 Islands has been created specificaly for his difficulty on the Network. Road, Rail, Bridges and Ferry Routes (even more with Highway and Avenues).

It's also a wonderful touristic zone where you can use all these beautiful parks, beachsides, hotels, etc. lots and props created by our friends on the STEX. Build your own Club Med, beachside promenade and so on.

Some sectors can receive cities (you still need money and some places to live, shop and work for your Sim) but it is not the main intention.

1000 Islands is for Mayor with a green thumb, tourist innovative and good engineering skills (expect terraforming and some headaches while you create your network).

Have fun

8. Griswold, CT with Pachaug Pond. A very pretty place in real life. It's 2x2 large cities for those who either prefer smaller maps, or don't have a Cray on their desktop, or both. It's accurately scaled from USGS DEM data (of course). Have fun.

12. Requested by tbird. Size is 3x3 large cities. I created this map using USGS 1/3 arc sec DEM data (accurate to within 10 meters) but the general elevation still seems too high for WI. If anyone lives there, I'd appreciate some feedback. Enjoy.

13. This is an accurately scaled map of Middletown, CT on the Connecticut River using USGS DEM data. It's 3x3 large cities for those who prefer smaller maps. It's a very nice little college town/city and a very nice place to live. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of good paying industrial or commercial jobs. Enjoy.

16. The map is a combination of four european cities - Zurich, Köln, Frankfurt and Budapest. Due to the combination of mountains, rivers and lakes I have tweaked and modified most geografical elements as needed.
This is not supposed to be an accurate map, but a fantasy map animated by the cities mentioned above.
Size is 1025x769 and Config.bmp is attached in the zip-file.

17. Hi everyone! This is a new version of my map of the 48 states of the USA.

Included in the zip folder is a 16-bit png grayscale image of the map (no more 8-bit jpgs yay!) and a config.bmp. However, you can no longer manually render the map in-game by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Shift+R (if you try that using this 16-bit png, you will get an underwater world unless you readjust the brightness of the png).

The map is 104km in length and 64km in breadth (OMG-how-to-play-this-its-so-huge  :ooh: ) You can of course resize the grayscale image and the config.bmp yourself if you find them too large for your liking.

In case some of you haven't read the description in my previous upload, there will be NO Alaska or Hawaii in this map, so no further questions will be entertained regarding this matter.

BTW, sorry for the repeated re-uploading ><

And yeah, you may come across certain "rivers" (or water channels, or whatever name you want to call them by) which are disjointed at tile borders. If you're fussy about that, too bad, you'll have to join them together by yourself :P

18. This is a modified map of New Haven, CT. Most of the map is DEM data accurate. I added some extra land and tweaked some areas for playability. The map is 5x5 large cities. The zip file includes the config.bmp, region screenshot, .SC4M Terraformer file, and the corresponding greyscale image file (if you prefer to load it the old conventional way).
There is no readme included as there are several tutorials available on how to load maps the old way (greyscale image) as well as how to use SC4 Terraformer.

21. This region has been assembled to provide a wide range of interesting terrains, some conventional, others less so ... all buildable though!

Suggestions:
In the 'Maze' city - there are two points set up for ferry terminals - see if you can persuade a ferry to successfully navigate the maze!
Bottom-left - send a ferry from the flatlands up to the reservoir in the mountains!
Sprinkle some wildlife on the 'sandbank' city (middle-top) - add some forests, plus a few seagulls, some windmills for finance - hey, why not create a wildlife reserve!
There's a 'canal' city too ... for creating mass-transit challenges!
The top-left city, and the 'crinkly' city in the centre, are designed for creating lots of bridges and tunnels!
There are four small 'vanilla' cities at the bottom - try a residential-only / industrial-only / agriculture-only / commercial-only combination.
There are plenty of straight coastlines all over the region for creating seaside casino resorts with nice long beaches.
And don't forget, to add further character to individual cities, it can be a good idea to restrict buildings to particular styles / periods before you commence building.

Note: This Box of Chocolates contains no artificial flavourings or colourings of any kind ... that includes er, for Monty Python fans ... Lark's Vomit :)

22. G'Day Simtropians,

Today I wish to show a map of South Georgia in the South Atlantic. It includes the highest peak Mt Paget at 2934m, and the bays on the east coast are where most of the whaling stations were situated. Now the only inhabitants are the wildlife and some hardy scientists and a postmaster.

The map is 16bits and was produced with DEM and satellite data, and is in .SC4M format. One needs wouanagaine's mapper or terraformer to import. Links are in the readme along with instructions on how to get it in one's game.

The map is 45.056km x 57.344km.

See me up CLOSE and personal or DOWNLOAD me fast.

25. please excuse the craptacular pics, my little lappy doesn't like rendering.

OK, so here we go. Today I have three new maps for you; one hard, one medium difficulty and one thats fairly easy.

Jetson Isles: difficulty--HARD!

welcome to the Jetson isles, only just recently have the volcanoes stopped erupting and gone extinct. This has made lovely mountains and craggy coasts. This could make for a beutiful tropical paradise, however it is highly uneven and hard to build on. There is one piece of flat land to the south however. (very small piece of flat land)

Cutter hills: difficulty--MEDIUM!

Welcome to the cutter hills, covered in a thick forest this region is as old as time itself. There once was gaint mountains here that could be seen for miles but erosion and weathering have whittled them away to smaller hills and valleys. There is also a river flowing through the region that brings all sorts of aquatic life with it. There is no perfectly flat area here but there is more than enough 'semi' flat area that you could build on.

Mt.Porke: difficulty--KINDA EASY!

Welcome to Mt.porke, at the foot of a hill range lies a mysterious mountain, no one knows what it's doing there, its just there. The region itself is very flat along the coast and would be ideal for building. The hills to the north would make for good wineries and other agriculture. There is also an island off the coast with semi buildable terrain. (note, the mountain in the centre is highly un buildable. just sayin)

hope you enjoy and feel free to tell me if i've lost my touch (I have been away for a while)

5x5 is even more uncommon in my mind especially when it comes to custom content.

As for the building they're amazing and some of your best work, and the fact they came out at the time CS was at its lowest point in the STEX I think these are a worthy addition.

Zero7 was a very underated BAT, his texture work here shows why he should be on the pantheon of amazing BATers.

About 20 mins to render.  Lots of water tiles open for island building.  The beaches are smooth and waterfronts good for building large cities with ports.  The arrangement of tiles is not random but optimized for city organization.  The transitions in elevation follow natural contour lines.  The overall texture is smooth.    This is a good map for a long term project of building a large region of cities connected by sea, land and air.
