MTP - Mountain Theme Pack

101 Files

  1. I figure someone will be asking for this so I thought I'd beat them to the punch. This patch file for the MTP Saw Mill removes the functional transit enabling that allows the game's trains to travel through the lot.
By default, the rail siding that runs the length of the lot is fully functional for both passenger and freight rail. The design of the lot intended that this functional part of the rail would be used as a connected rail siding that the game's trains would not run through. The pass-thru functionality is only there for those who would need it for some reason.
However, depending on how you plop the lot and how you have your rails laid out, the game's trains may try to travel through the lot. This could cause what those in the railroad business refer to as an "Unfortunate Event" as the 3:10 from Yuma chugs along and plows into the logging cars and crane that always occupy that siding.
Of course, in the game, the trains just run through and nothing happens. Its no biggy other than it just looks weird. To prevent that, just drop the single file in this zip into the same folder where your Saw Mill files are installed.

  2. This mod replaces the game's default industrial/rural "light on a stick" with a more attractive... um... light on a stick. Similar in design to the wooden pole light commonly seen in-game in lower wealth, low density & industrial areas,  the new light is taller to match other streetlights in the game. It also has a modified light cone that is more realistic and slightly softer in color. The light globes/bulbs are also illuminated in this new version.
Once installed, this mod automatically replaces all occurances of the game default version in all your cities. No further action is required by you. If you wish to revert back to the game-default version at any time, just remove the mod file from your Plugins folder.
The mod replaces both the normal and diagonal versions of the streetlight. It does not replace the double light version because... frankly... its just so damn ugly I haven't figured out what to do with it yet.
Although designed for use with the MTP, it certainly is not limited to rural areas. This same light is used by the game in urban & industrial areas.

** This mod has no dependencies.

  3. The family owned Timber Lumber Co. has been in operation since the late 1880s. Its been updated over the years but most of the original structure appears as it did when it was originally constructed. With facilities to receive logs both by truck and by rail, the Saw Mill is able to process trees brought in from distant sources... which of course will lead to additional Logging Industry lots in this series.

Literally taking about 3 years to complete, this is most definately the most detailed model I have ever produced. Unfortunately, many of those details... such as pull strings on the window shades and handles on the fire exstingushers... are just too small to be noticable after rendering for the game. But they are still there... and along with the larger, more visible details... add to the final appearance of the model.

The Saw Mill lot is a 5x8 ploppable IND-M lot that will self-level itself when plopped. It provides jobs and income from taxes. The mill does produce pollution... but not much compared to other industries... and the impact is limited to the local area. The mill is in full compliance with all regulations set forth by the governing environmental agencies.
The lot is transit enabled for both street and rail. The street connection is visual only... to allow streets to connect to the lot's entrance. There are two rail connections to the lot but onlty one of them is functional. The siding that runs the full length of the lot (seen on the far right of the screen shots) is functional for all rail types and will allow both passenger and freight rail to pass through the lot. However, you should ideally connect this as a siding from your mainline to avoid trains running through the train cars on the siding. The other rail connection to the lot deadends inside the mill and it provides a visual rail connection only.
    Features of the lot include:
    * Extensive night lighting.
    * Timed props that appear & disappear through the day to enhance a feeling of activity.
*New custom rural streetlight (to be released seperately as an MTP mod).
    * Animated smoke from the stack.
*Custom query with rotating custom query sound effects.
    * Numerous new custom rail, vehicle & logging props designed for the Logging Industry series of lots.
    * The Logging Industry lots were designed for the MTP but have been engineered to have a minimal dependence on it. The goal is to allow players to use these lots in any non-urban setting/city without the need to move the required files in and out of the Plugins folder when switching between different city types or styles. These lots and the MTP dependency files can remain in your Plugins folder without affecting non-MTP themed cities.
    * No trees were harmed during the development of this lot.

** This lot requires installation of the MTP SUPER PACK
and the MTP Logging Industry RESOURCE

  5. * UPDATED TO v1.02 ON 01/20/2009
This MTP RESOURCE file is the primary dependency for the upcoming series of Logging Industry lots. Although designed for the MTP, these upcoming lots will have minimal MTP-dependence and should look great in any non-urban environment.

    * While embracing the proud and romantic history of logging over the past two centuries, we fully realize the need to preserve our natural resources and avoid needless exploitation of our forests. Accordingly, all PEG loggers and logging facilities work in concert with the Forestry Service and remove only trees tagged by the Service as diseased, damaged or impeding the development of new growth.

  6. This  PEG MTP Series  MOD adds a nice dusting of snow to all your PEG Pine Trees... old style and new. Simply install as directed... and all the PEG Pines in all your cities automatically become frosty Winter Wonderland... ish.  Once you are ready for Spring again, just remove the install folder out from your Plugins folder... and all the trees will revert back to normal.

This mod includes 2 primary files. One file converts the new PEG Pines... and the other converts the old style Pines. If you no longer use the older style trees, you can safely remove the file for the older trees.
The mod(s) convert all of the trees... whether they were plopped via God Mode, Mayor Mode... or are props on a lot. Once installed, the effect is immediate and rather dramatic. No other action is required by you... except to break out the brandy or hot chocolate... and enjoy the view.
Please Note:  The location of this mod within your Plugins folder is critical for proper functionality. Please copy the ZIP file to your Plugins folder and use the default paths/folders that the UnZip program creates.

** The Snow Trees require installation of the PEG-MTP Tree Mod
and optionally the  PEG-MTP Mayor Mode Old Pine Trees Mod.   All Pegasus files are now legacy content and are no longer officially supported - however support from the wider community can be requested here.

  7. This  PEG MTP Series  MOD adds ploppable Scrub Brush props to your Mayor Menu. Like the other PEG Mayor Mods, this mod also uses the the click-cycle single menu icon for tidiness and ease of use.
This mod is similar to the PEG Mayor Mode Forest Flora  Mod...  but with some very useful differences. For starters, it reuses the game's own scrub oak props normally used only by the God Mode Tree brush at very high elevations. No new props to add.... no extra game resources to grub up.
    Other notable differences include:
    1. These plop in clusters... like the PEG Pine Clusters mod. The parameters have been modified to allow close clustering and even to overlay each other... so you can lay down a fairly thick thicket of scrub.
    2. These orient to the slope. No need to worry about level ground or props hanging out in the air. If you try to plop them on too steep of a slope, they just won't plop.
    3. They click-cycle in reverse... size-wise. They start big and with each subsequent click  on the plopped prop, a smaller version appears. The method to this madness is thus:
    4. Although the clusters are quite large, you will find that they can be plopped in rather small spaces between trees... and will fill in the gaps quite nicely.

    PLEASE NOTE:

The cycling effect is not repetitive. Once you have cycled to the last item, additional clicks will have no effect.

  8. This  PEG MTP Series  MOD replaces the old  PEG-MTP Mayor Mode Pine Tree Mod  with a  single "click-cycle" menu icon that functions just like the other new PEG Mayor Mode forest mods. This mod uses the same old-style pine trees... just repackaged for easier access and a cleaner Mayor Menu.
The old version of the PEG-MTP Mayor Mode Pine Tree Mod  can safely be removed from your Plugins folder without affecting any trees plopped in your cities. This mod also features improved parameters for closer clustering.

    PLEASE NOTE:

If the larger trees will not fit in the area you are trying to plop them, you will not be able to click-cycle to them. In this instance, you can only cycle through the smaller trees that fit in that location.

The cycling effect is not repetitive. Once you have cycled to the last item, additional clicks will have no effect.

  10. This  PEG MTP Series  Mayor Mod adds 7 new Forest Scenes to your Mayor Menu. All scenes are click-cyclable from a single Mayor Menu icon.
    Included in this collection:
    -  A single Picnic Table.
    - A complete Picnic Area.
    - A small Shack or Storage Shed.
    - A Fire Watrch Tower.
    - An old Donkey Engine.
    - Everyone's favorite... The Moonshine Still.
    - And everyone's other favorite... Skinny Dippers in Hot Spring sauce.

    * Donkey engines were small steam engines... named after the donkeys they replaced.  They were commonly used in old logging and mine operatrions, primarily as power winches to move heavy objects such as logs and equiptment. Normally, they were mounted on large, wooden skids that allowed them to be easily moved around by horses, other donkey engines.. or even by themselves.  Most were abandoned when the operations closed down and many can still be found out in the woods in various stages of decay.
    * The Fire Watch Tower has an underground foundation that allows it to plop well on most sloped terrain.    The foundation will "dig in" and blend realistically on most slopes or uneven terrain.
    * The Moonshine Still has its own terrain on part of the scene... and like most of these scenes, should not be plopped on steep slopes. And yes... that is me diligently standing guard over the operation.
Although there are 5 different sizes/styles of tree... you will find only one icon in your Mayor Menu.  After clicking on the icon and plopping the tree, additional clicks on the plopped tree will cycle through the other available trees. It may require  a few extra clicks to get the exact tree that you want,  but this menu cycling method should keep your Mayor Menu from getting overly cluttered.

    PLEASE NOTE:

If the larger scenes will not fit in the area you are trying to plop them, you will not be able to click-cycle to them. In this instance, you can only cycle through the smaller scenes that fit in that location.

The cycling effect is not repetitive. Once you have cycled to the last item, additional clicks will have no effect.

  12. This PEG MTP Series MOD adds 6 new ploppable Logging Props & Scenes to your Mayor Menu... all accessible from a single, cyclable menu icon. From a single tree stump prop to fully detailed modelramas, these no-cost, ploppable forest accessories can add life and character to your forests. Mix and match and create any size of a logging operation you want.
The mod is fully self contained. You do not need to install any particular tree mod or style. Nor do any of the scenes contain any tree models so they can be used with any God or Mayor Mode tree mod without having incompatible tree types together.
Although there are 6 different scenes to choose from...you will find only one icon in your Mayor Menu. After clicking on the icon and plopping the scene, additional clicks on the plopped scene will cycle through the other available scenes. It may require a few extra clicks to get the exact scene that you want, but this menu cycling method should keep your Mayor Menu from getting overly cluttered.

    PLEASE NOTE:

If the larger scenes will not fit in the area you are trying to plop them, you will not be able to click-cycle to them. In this instance, you can only cycle through the smaller scenes that fit in that location. An easy solution to this is to bulldoze the nearby trees, plop the desired scene, then go back with the Mayor Mode menu and replop single trees around the scene.

The cycling effect is not repetitive. Once you have cycled to the last item, additional clicks will have no effect.
** No real trees were harmed in the development or implementation of this mod. All trees depicted in the screen shots were hugged hourly... per their contract. PEG Loggers only remove trees that have died of natural causes or have been mortally injured and are suffering.
In some instances as required, some trees are tagged by the Forestry Service for removal based on certain criteria that includes; Trees that are ugly, mean or stupid, Trees that drop leaves, needles or squirrel poop into the pool of the Director of the Forestry Service, Trees that hug back... and Trees with a demonstrated root fetish for sewer pipes.

  13. This  PEG MTP Series  MOD allows you to plop clusters of the new PEG-MTP Tree Mod pine trees that range in sizes that you select.  A single icon in your  Mayor Menu  will allow you to cycle through the 5 different tree clusters.

This mod contains it's own variations of the trees and you do not need the PEG-MTP Tree Mod to use it. The ability to plop specific tree clusters exactly where you want them will allow you to fine tune your forests exactly how you want them.

  14. This PEG MTP Series MOD adds the new PEG-MTP Tree Mod pine trees to your Mayor Menu where you can select which tree to plop exactly where you want it with near pin-point accuracy. Unlike the game-default trees, these pines plop fully grown and are free to plop.

Although there are 6 different sizes/styles of tree...you will find only one icon in your Mayor Menu. After clicking on the icon and plopping the tree, additional clicks on the plopped tree will cycle through the other available trees. It may require a few extra clicks to get the exact tree that you want, but this menu cycling method should keep your Mayor Menu from getting overly cluttered.

The cycling effect is not repetitive. Once you have cycled to the last item, additional clicks will have no effect.

The resource file of the PEG-MTP Tree Mod is required for this mod. If you would like to use the Mayor Mode version of these trees but not the God Mode version, install the Tree Mod... then remove the separate god mode file and keep only the RESOURCE file.

  15. * Included in the Version 1.02 update is improved (closer) clustering. Existing trees will not be affected until you "paint" over them with the God Mode Flora tool.

This  PEG MTP Series  MOD upgrades the appearance of the pine trees used in the PEG God Mode Pine Tree Mod  as well as the ploppable PEG Pine Forest  lots. This a direct replacement for the  PEG God Mode Pine Tree Mod  so you can delete that after this mod is installed.

Once installed properly, this mod will automatically update all the PEG Pines used in your cities... anywhere the God Mode Mod was used... and on any lots that use the trees. You will not have to replop anything although you may wish to run the God Mode cursor over existing areas as this new mod uses different parameters and spacing.

This mod does not affect any of the older PEG Pines placed using the  PEG Mayor Mode Pine Tree Mod. Those trees still exist for backwards compatibility and you can continue to use them via the Mayor Mode menu or for your own lot development.

  16. The  MTP  Corner Shop is a collection of growable small stores that will develop only on corners. Accordingly, they effectively have 2 front-sides to face each side of the intersecting roads.

The lots are 2x2 CS$$ and will develop in all densities. There are 3 different styles of the basic design in a random building family...  that will appear on 3 different variations of the lot. This means there are 9 possible combinations of the building and lot that will randomly develop in your cities.

Furthermore, there are 3 versions of the lot for each development stage 1 - 4... with each stage in a separate file. This will allow the player to better control when and how often these lots will develop by simply removing any of the 4 stage files.  Corner lots are notoriously shy about developing, so this duplication for each stage is intended to increase the odds that they will develop. If you find that they start appearing too often, simply remove 1 or 2 of the separate stage files.

    * The package also includes a 2x2 RCI CS$$ ploppable version which can be found in your Landmarks menu. This version uses a different lot design but is still intended for plopping on corners. This could be very useful when you can't get a growable version to develop precisley where you want one. The ploppable version is also in a separate file and can be removed in not wanted.

Three different full-tile models are used to create a look more detailed than a conventional lot created in the Lot Editor. The MTP plazas are the ideal alternative to the very urban looking game-default plazas when used in your rural & bedroom communities.

  18. If variety is truly the spice of life, then this PEG MTP version of the Small Plaza should add a little zest to your rural cities. A central rural "drinking fountain" provides refreshment for parched pedestrians. Or maybe there will be a tall historic tree... or a fountain. Frankly, we just don't know what will show up as this plaza will display 1 of 3 different styles everytime you plop it. No more same-o, same-o on every corner.

The lot will appear as an extra subway station in your Misc Transportation menu. It does not replace the original lot.

I'm sure everyone will want to use this. I don't know about you, but when I look around a beautiful & unspoiled, tranquil rural setting, I immediately think "Subway!!" Why travel peacefully through a majestic forest of pines, cedars and oak when you can just as easily go underground and scrape your head on all the friggin' roots. Who wants to be endure clean, fresh, pine-scented air when you can hop on a subway and enjoy the combined aroma of fresh flatulence and sweating armpits.

  20. Geothermal power has finally come to your mountain/rural community. Virtually pollution free, this mid-sized power plant is a realistic power source and ideal for meeting the lower power needs of smaller, remote communities.
This power plant is modeled after the real-world Wineagle Geothermal Power Plant near Susanville, California. That plant went on-line in 1985 and has operated reliably at 98% capacity ever since then. Monitored by a computer, the plant is unmanned. The computer initiates a call to a technician if maintenance or repairs are required.
Priced at §2,000, with a monthly cost of §60 and an output of 1,000 MWh, this plant produces power at an affordable §.06 per kWh.

    * Compare with the coal power plant at §10,000 / §250, 6,000 MWh and §.04 per kWh.

In-game power output values are skewed from reality, so this power plant's output & costs have been adjusted accordingly to compare with the default game power plants.

    * To produce the 200 MWh of the game's single wind turbine power plant in the real world, a entire wind farm spread out over 20 kilometers would be required.

The lot is 2x4 tiles in size... and designed to have the appearance of an irregular, non-rectangular shape... which will be a new trend for MTP lots where applicable. The lot should be plopped on fairly level ground and looks great when situated on a prepared site amid rolling hills or along side winding mountain roads.

** This lot requires the following dependencies
    PEG MTP Super Pack
    PEG Security Fencing

  21. The time has come to clean up your act. Specifically... you now have access to clean, affordable and realistic power for your cities. Its time to stop burning those fossil fuels and irradiating the gene pool and start developing GeoThermal Power Plants in all your cities.
Geothermal energy is abundant... and renewable. The process involves using either direct steam or high-pressure hot water from underground to power steam turbines... which in turn power electric generators. The steam is then condensed back to liquid and pumped back underground where it is super heated to be used again... repeatedly... forever. This is not science fiction. Geothermal power plants are in use today throughout the world.

This 5x4 power plant has all the costs, power output and other properties of a game-default coal fired power plant... but virtually none (1-3%) of the associated pollution. In fact, the only real pollution generated here is when the roach coach rolls in on 2-for-1 burrito day.

This is not a conditional power plant and is always available. Its the cheapest source of power ($0.04 cents per MegaWatt Hour [MWh], in-game) and the cleanest now available. For bringing power to your cities, Geothermal should not only be your first choice... but your only choice!

  22. For use with the MTP or any rural area of your city, this Mountain Transit Authority Bus Stop is a delightful alternative to the somewhat over-sized and hideous looking game default bus stop. The lot is 1x1 in size and has the same properties, capacities and costs as the game version.
The lot uses a transparent texture so whatever terrain you have in the area will show through. This allows the lot to blend better with the surrounding terrain and is especially useful if you use any terrain mods.
The lot has also been modified to align to slopes. This will make the lot more versatile and will prevent the lot from auto-leveling and forcing ugly foundations or retaining walls  from appearing.

    Bonus Mod
** Also included in this package is the PEG-MTP MTA Bus Mod ( PEG-MTP_MTA-Bus_MOD.dat ) file that re-skins the city bus into the colors of the Mountain Transit Authority (or Metro Transit Agency or My Transit Assoc. or... ) If you do not want to use this mod, then you must remove the file after it is installed.

  23. This is the first complete or "Mondo" Mod for the MTP that completely replaces the game's default Residential Lots with Mountainous/Rural versions designed for the MTP Theme. Every game-default Residential lot has been modified or replaced with MTP styled lots and buildings. Similar to a new tile set, this mod goes beyond by actually changing the appearance of the lots as well and giving your game a completely different look.
Like SimMars, the MTP is a full, new Theme for your game. And with the new Start-Up Manager, playing multiple themes is no longer a nasty chore of having to manually rename and remove files & folders. That means you can easily switch between your normal cities and regions and any new Theme, like the MTP.
The MTP is being released in bits & pieces as they become available. This will allow you to easily choose which components to install or not. You also will not have to wait until the entire theme is complete in order to enjoy it. In its entirety, the MTP Theme will completely change the appearance of your game as well as how you play it.
To conserve game resources, game-default props and buildings have been re-used wherever possible, Still, scores of new props & textures and no less than 20 new, custom residential buildings have been included in this mod. In total, the mod includes over 330 new residential lots that replace the game-default lots.
** This mod was authored by Pegasus & BarbyW.
** This mod requires the following dependency:
    PEG MTP Super Pack
Also required are the 3 PEG-MTP Growable RES Mods:
    PEG-MTP Growable Low Wealth RES
    PEG-MTP Growable Medium Wealth RES
    PEG-MTP Growable High Wealth RES
**This file currently contains an .exe installer suitable for windows users.  These files are in the process of being updated with zip files and this message will be removed once the update is complete.

The complete Residential Replacement Mod has already been released. The Commercial Service medium and high wealth versions of this mod will be released shortly. The Commercial Office Replacement mods are under development... and the Industrial Replacement mods will follow those soon after.

This is a MTP compliant update to the PEG God-mode Pine Tree mod. It allows you to plop the PEG Pines one at a time or in bunches... anywhere you want.
The PEG Pines will act like any other Mayor-Mode tree except they plop fully grown. You won't have to wait for them to grow.
