    Fed up of boxes for cars, Grey silhouettes for people & empty roads when you zoom out?

    Here is your solution, Cars are now visible as a car on the four nearest zoom levels and people are visible as people on the 3 nearest zoom levels!

    Install
    Download the file
    Open the .zip using Explorer, WinZip, WinRar or 7zip (recomended)
    Then just drop the .patch file in your Paks folder, default (C:\Program Files\Monte Cristo\Cities XL\Paks)

    Tested and works with 1.1.0.457, not tested but should work with ALL graphics levels.
    If your game barely runs on Very Low this mod may slow your game more.

    Will not work with graphics levels mods e.g. GlobexCo's Super-High Graphic Settings.
    Credit goes to GlobexCo for the idea, If your computer can eaisily handle the game on the High settings GlobexCo's Super-High Graphic Settings mod might be a better idea.

    First steps:

  3. Airport pack, the first and real edition!
    v1.00 released 15/02/2011

    Update 1.01 (19/02/2011): airport main building now can be merged in tarmac texture.

    (hope it's not oversized - 20Mb - I couldn't find the maximum size)

    Works with CitiesXL 2011 only!
    You can find a compatible version here (but without airport buildings)...

    What is it:
    The airport pack is an addon for CXL that adds ploppable airplanes, airport buildings, tarmac plaza and road. This is a new kind of mod, since it uses a whole new menu, to better organize things.
    The release of this pack was planned for 25th December (a nice gift from us); however Exa had problems in real life, so we had to delay the relase...

    What's included:
    20 ploppable airplanes (made by Exalight)
    1 Hangar
    1 Airport tower + offices
    1 plaza
    1 road

    How to use it:
    * Download, extract and put the .patch in paks folder
    * In Transport Inter-city menu you'll find a new button (airport project)
    * Click it and a new panel  will pop up
    * Open the menu and place buildings you like
    * Click on the red arrow to validate the project
    * (tarmac plaza is in plaza menu)

    What is planned:
    The pack is not complete (and at the moment, not very comfortable). However, this is what I and Exalight managed to do. Once we find a way to unlock them, we'll release an update to this pack, with airport props (stairsbus, luggages ...).

    5 languages supported.
    If you have other airport packs, you need to remove them if you want to use this (it will work without problems, but planes will be cloned).

  4. Hello,

    This is an update to my Terraforming Mod just for Cities XL 2011.  It has the same extra sizes of terraforming options as the version for CXL 2009 but now incorporates the Terraforming Parameters Panel for the Circle and Square brush options for each size.

    To bring up the Terraforming Parameters Panel just use your right mouse button to select one of the different sizes of terraforming brushes.  This allows you to set the brush to eithr circle or square brushes.  You can also set the smoothness of each brush allowing you to have complete circle to complete square brushes.

    THIS MOD IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH CITIES XL 2009

    Directions:  Download the file "Extra Terraform Options CXL2011 v1" then Extract and place it in the Paks folder inside your Cities XL 2011 installation. 

    Please notify me of any problems or comments about this Mod.

    CXL Unlocker Mod
    version 3.0

    First steps:
    * Download the .zip from this page (click on "Download") and unpack it - you'll find a setup.
    * As usual, remember to install the Moaku sandbox mod (latest version) and to remove any previous version of Unlocker!
    * Run the installer.
    * Choose your paks folder (Program Files > CitiesXL installation path > Paks)
    * Choose features to install. See the "Content" section for more info.
    * Read carefully the readme.txt included (Program Files > CitiesXL > Paks > Unlocker)
    * Run the game and enjoy!
    * Run again installer to add features.
    * Manually remove features...

    Known bugs:
    (do not report these bugs, I already know them!)
    * You need to unlock buildings everytime you enter the city.
    * SkiLift, Telecabin and Telechair crashes when selecting.

    * Using high settings (in the advanced panel) you'll see pedestrians everywhere on railroad.
    * You can't destroy blueprints in the "normal way" (you have to select the building and then press the button [canc] or [delete] on your keyboard)

    Further developement:
    The last, big release of this mod is near. Version 4 will be relased as soon as I get CitiesXL 2011. The 2009 edition will include some code fix from 2011 version. While a new edition, 2011 only, is planned.
    One or more patches will be released, mainly to fix railroad bugs.

    History:
    August 2009: First Menu mod released by Nilo in CXL Beta forums. Most of the features and ideas are implemented for the first time here.
    October 2009: After the release of my first mod, I've been contacted and "enlightened" by Moaku...
    November 2009: When Monte Cristo banned unpacked mods, a "black period" started for modding. Some mods were released, at CitiesXs... but most of the experts
    disappeared in few months.
    June 2010: First RePacker tool released, modding starts again! First release of the Unlocker Mod. For buyable content reason, the second version is out in three
    weeks. Kiwispanker releases a quick fix too.
    July 2010: Simtropolis contacts Focus... The unlocker mod is officially approved.
    August 2010: Third release of the Unlocker Mod

  6. [color="#FF0000"][b]Cities XL 2012 compatible[/b][/color]

    This mod contains 9 types of forests with three types of trees declined each of three different soils.
    So these are plazas, you'll find them in Environment / Decorations.

    These places have been configured to accept slopes of 60 °.
    To be sure to keep the slopes, draw a route up the slope and a second lower and after, put your area of forest. The trees follow the slope and the ground will respect the roadside.

    So there are three categories of trees according (approximately) the geographic areas:
    - Deciduous trees in temperate regions
    - Conifers for cooler regions
    - Exotic varieties for the tropics
    Low shrubs are planted to enhance the appearence of undergrowth.
    Notice that the tree density is high enough to give precisely the impression of forest which is not the case with the textures of the game (or Malaya's).

    Each category is broken down on three grounds:
    - The texture of "waste" of brown color that looks like in this case a forest soil with fallen leaves
    - The green grass texture of the Wooded Park Area of the game, allowing transition between textures
    - And a splendid set of 3 textures designed expressly by Peluche, approaching more the rich colors of the undergrowth.

    These plazas seem to be less memory-intensive than individual trees.

  8. Maarten's Light Replacement Mod (LRM) for CitiesXL - Version 1.1

    This mod replaces the standard streetlight patterns with customized streetlight patterns. Not only does the mod replace the streetlights , it also changes their position of placement. One of the main reasons I made this mod, is to get rid of that silly standard streetlight on the roads and great avenues that's more suited for parking Lots. Also, this mod contains a file that places lights on the median of the Freeways. So get ready to change the looks of your streets in Cities XL! Installation
    The ZIP-file contains the following files:
    - Mod_MRTNRLN_CXL_LRM_Freeway.patch
    Adds lights to your freeways

    - Mod_MRTNRLN_CXL_LRM_Expressway.patch
    Changes the streetlight patterns on the expressways

    - Mod_MRTNRLN_CXL_LRM_Avenue.patch
    Changes the streetlight patterns on the avenues (Both Small and Great Avenue)

    - Mod_MRTNRLN_CXL_LRM_Road.patch
    Changes the streetlight patterns on the roads

    Uninstallation
    To uninstall the LRM, delete the PATCH-files from your plugins folder Compatibility
    This mod is compatible with all other mods currently available (June 13, 2010). It's also compatible with [Mod]Multiple road addon mod, where the LRM also replaces the streetlight patters on the LUX-roads.
    This mod is NOT compatible with the Freeway Bridge mod. Dependencies
    Since it only uses existing CitiesXL models, there are no dependencies.
      Bugfixes
    v1.0 >> v1.1 Fixed crosswalk bug at the Expressways. The previous version of the LRM disabled crosswalks on the Expressways Fixed busstop bug for avenues. The previous version of the LRM disabled the placement of busstops on aveneus. Picture

    Low-poly lods are just horrible in a big city, especially at night... with low quality textures applied to low quality buildings.
    And of course that stupid black box instead of real cars is worse than any other things!

    read me please!
    This mod has been designed to push CXL render engine to maximum. Cars show at any zoom (except the last and further one, when cars are too small to be rendered correctly - and so the game simply doesn't render them). Same thing for people walking. Buidings now use the same model at any zoom.

    To really enjoy this mod you need a big, high definition screen... or littlest details will become just "pixels together".
    You need 4Gb or more of ram, especially for big cities - or the game may crashes for insufficient memory. You need a very good graphic card to render all those polys and to show something good.
    Not related to this mod, but since it's summer and hot, you may want to buy a better fan for your pc (or an extra fan to put under your laptop) so temperature won't reach critical levels.

    Of course, use this mod at your own risk. I'm not responsible of melt mother boards  .

    If you meet all these specs, then download the mod, your city pictures will look better!

    how to install
    * download the .zip archive
    * extract the content (a .patch file) in your paks folder (C:/installation folder/CitiesXL/Paks)
    * Check that graphic options is set to "high"
    * You don't need to touch anything more in that option panel

    Look at the cinema, in the first picture is horrible!
    Now look at the farm road, there's a black box in the center... now look at the second picture, in front of the mall: can you see that white car?

    Updates:
    I don't think I'll update the mod... Anyway, I left trees quality at default settings, since there are a lot of polys in a tree model, and it will take years to load big landscapes.

  12. Tired of dull nightlighting, and tiny dots for streetlights?
    This mod enhances the night lighting for the game, by giving the lighting in-game a complete overhaul!

    Features:
    - Brighter lights on buildings at nights
    - Streetlights are larger and brighter, they are also a more realistic, orange color as well.

    See your cities in a whole new way!


    * Please note that this mod was made from a series of experiments, and is still in the expiremental stage. This is the first version, and first mod that changes the streetlights, so it does have the following bugs:

    - Some tiling can be seen in the street lighting (common in diagonals).
    - The street lights could still be even larger and cover more (especially on large roads, but I can't at the moment due to tiling issue, but it will be done in the next version)
    Other than that, they are much better than the old, default lights.

    To install:
    1. Download File
    2. copy the .patch file into the paks folder
    3. start up the game, switch to any of the night modes and see your cities like you never seen them before!
    4. Enjoy!!

  14. Welcome to the age of factory automation and mass production. It increases production of the high-density heavy industry by 2.5 times, and makes it pay more taxes too, at the "cost" of also hiring about a third more unskilled workers per factory.

    It will leave the low and mid density factories unchanged, because I didn't want to screw up your economy while you still have a tiny city and can't build much else to provide jobs. But as soon as you're big enough to zone for high-density heavy industry, you can demolish the old factories and zone for these more efficient ones. And use the left over space and workforce for, I dunno, manufacturing or high tech.

    The basic story is that I hated having to build that much heavy industry, and the pitiful taxes they paid didn't even cover the cost of cleaning up their pollution. I COULD use the wonderful sandbox mod, but it's not very realistic, and trips my suspension of disbelief. I wanted something which still maintains at least a thin pretense of realism.

    So the changes are as follows:

    - as mentioned, I increased each factory's production by 2.5 times. You'll still need to zone several full square blocks before coming anywhere near a sandbox factory, but you don't have to fill half the map with heavy industry either.

    - I've increased their workforce from 3 unskilled, 3 skilled and 2 executives to 4 unskilled, 3 skilled, and 2 executives. On the whole, because you need less heavy factories and can build more manufacturing and high-tech, you'll still end up with a lot less unskilled workers in the city, but I still wanted to have a half-way believable number of them. A city with twice as many elites as unskilled workers is kinda silly.

    - I've reduced their profits per unit sold to half (mass-production lowers prices), and increased their maintenance per factory by 6 times, so they don't pay insanely high taxes. They still do pay a lot more tax per factory, but it is still quite a bit lower than an equivalent manufacturing factory. The point I'm aiming at is basically that zoning for it isn't a loss, but it doesn't turn into a cash cheat, either, and it doesn't remove the incentive to build more manufacturing and high-tech instead if you can.

    How to install it: just unpack the .zip file in your Paks folder. Any existing high-density heavy factories will be automatically upgraded, so in a large city you'll end up with an instant surplus. Sell it or demolish some.

    How to uninstall it: just delete the .patch file from your Paks folder. Any existing high-density heavy factories will be automatically downgraded to the vanilla ones. I.e., large cities will have a massive defficit of heavy industry until you build some more to make up for the downgrade.

    IMPORTANT NOTE: This has only been tested with Cities XL 2012. I have no idea if it works with any other version.

    If you want to use theese skins as a replacement for the american skins use "SeattleREPLACE" If yu want thees skins be added as new skins to the game at american cities only choose "SeattleADDON(US)" If you want theese skins to appear as additional vehicles everywhere, choose "SeattleADDON(All)"

    Install ONLY ONE of theese files. The ADDON files are compartible with all other vehicle Skin mods made by me. The replace version is not compartible with mods that replace the double decker metro, the american metro and the american buses.

    The choosen file must be placed in the "packs" folder in order to work correct.

  16. Maarten's New USA Road Set (for CitiesXL 2011)
    Description
    This mod replaces the road textures of the American road set with new, more realistic textures. It also changes the streetlights next to the roads. The mod replaces mostly the blank road textures with double-yellow median line marked or dot-marked textures. Here are some screenshots (click for full resolution!)





      Installation/uninstallation
    To install this mod, unpack the zip-file and place the patch-file into the Paks-folder (which can be found at the location where you installed CitiesXL 2011)

    To uninstall this mod, simply delete the patch-file from your packs folder. Compatibility
    This mod is NOT compatible with CitiesXL 2009.
    Dependencies
    This mod doesn't require any dependencies. Bugfix
    v1.1 (Feb 6, 2011, 14:00 GMT): The bug that the new textures don't show up sometimes is now fixed. Also, an extra texture file is added to replace the yellow zebra crosswalks with a more regular US crosswalk style texture if you want to.

    This is a new better and much more comfortable version of my CXLtrainpatch that adds a very nice feature.

    The CXLtrainpatch solves the problem of small and medium metro trains not appearing at cities with german and UK roads and adds a nice new feature that allows the american and the french metro trains to be mixed.

    Install:Just unzip the zip- folder, choose one of the nine versions and put this version into your plugins folder, I reccomend to create a subfolder for my train patches and trainskin mods, makes it easier to switch between the sets.

    This patch is a quick hotfix for Globexco's recent Unlocker Mod version 2.0.

    Included are a few of the buildings that I had unlocked but never uploaded; I've also changed some of their attributes to make them more realistic.

    This patch:
    Adds the Omnicorps map (can be found in the ocean to the northwest of the Coast region) Deletes the Hong Kong map (it's not ready yet) Adds more buildings (and delete duplicates), such as: More omnicorps buildings, including the turret and sharks Southern College (a 60x60 city-wide college) More civic services, police/health More Townhalls (be cafeful when you update the buildings from one townhall to another; although the game won't crash, the lot may be incorrect --- because you are changing the building from, e.g., a 40x60 lot to a 60x100 lot) Adds two new roads (the doubleroad) which can be found in the bridge submenu Adds a avenue/highway interchange (same as before but without the roundabout) Adds some industry buildings (there may still be some duplicates with other mods) Corrects thumbnail images for some buildings Adds name and descriptions to some buildings Localization is only in English, so far.

    Installation: Unzip and place .patch file into your citiesxl/paks folder
    Dependency: Globexco's Unlocker Mod version 2.0
    Update 1: omnicorps map: fixed layers, added description, added thumbnail image deleted more duplicates and fixed some names added a couple of buildings, including a small fire station (converted from non-working bus station) actually deleted Hong Kong map
    Known Issues:
    No known issues stand for this patch, however there are still a couple of problems with the unlocker mod version 2: Paris map cannot connect intercity roads - problem will be fixed shortly Other duplicate buildings should be deleted and/or fixed by unlocker v.3

  21. This mod is an Auto Hotkey™ script, that essentially makes the WASD behave like the Arrow keys. This allows you to use the WASD keys to move the camera. Turning the camera works as well.

    Don't download this mod... its architecture simply doesn't work with the latest version. Files need to be packed.
    Anyway, I don't want to remove this upload, since it's the first mod for CitiesXL ever published. You can consider this page as "history". The idea is not clean, nor the mod.
    But I'm gonna repack it, so you can get the feeling of November 2009... when no mods were available, Monte Cristo was still alive and releasing patches for the game every week and people could create their own mods without any strange software... only notepad and QuickBMS.

    This mod replaces the normal bus with a NY MTA livery (does not change the mesh).
    The texture is based on the DesignLine EcoSaver™ IV Hybrid Electric Vehicle.
    Note: does not increase or decrease pollution in game, Sorry.

    Install
    Download the file
    Open the .zip using Explorer, WinZip, WinRar or 7zip (recomended)
    Then just drop the .patch file in your Paks folder, default (C:\Program Files\Monte Cristo\Cities XL\Paks)

    Tested and works with 1.1.0.457

    No known conflicts.

  25. As per request, I created some class files for all of the old Christmas roads. BUT, now you can ingame change your road to and from the Christmas road. I also fixed some bugs that MC left (with bus stops) and added custom thumbnails with little christmas lights to distinguish them from their non-festive counterpart.

    Installation: place .patch file into your paks folder @ c:/program files/monte cristo/paks

    Dependencies: None (well, the December patch from MC)

    Incompatibilities: This patch will work with other mods, including Skimbo's road texture mods (as pictured).
    The christmas shop wasn't included in this patch because it alread exists in several building unlocker mods (including the Unlocker Mod version 2 with the latest hotfix).

    I created a new thread in the CXL custom creation forum; please post any issues or bugs there. Thank you.
