Please help us for July   06/30/2017

This month we're hoping for a little bit of a boost this month or next, in addition to covering the regular bills, we could benefit from some hardware upgrades. STEX Collector's Set gifts can now be sent to you via digital download as well as regular mail if you wish! Every donation dollar goes toward keeping Simtropolis online and humming along. Your contribution counts! Hardware Upgrades As our website community software improves with more and more features, and as we bolt on additional features such as chat, the increased load to handle all these new toys is taking the server a bit to task. You may have noticed that we'd been forced to temporarily disable the chat as we worked out allocating resources for more optimal performance. Following this, we've applied a number of 'soft' changes such as caching options and experimented with server configurations (nginx as proxy, for example), so the hardware aspect is also an area we'd like to focus on. The last time we upgraded hardware was back in 2012, prior to the release of SC13. Your contribution means a lot! Your donation will go toward helping us to 1.) migrate to a newer server or 2.) at least get some ram/cpu/storage updates and any other infrastructure hardware or services. Donate and Get a Gift or Donate Any Amount Thanks so much! - Dirktator & The Admins

  3. This map contains the Apulia (where I live), Basilicata and Campania in Italy. It's my first map, if you're going to criticize, make it as detailed and useful as possible so I can work to improve. It contains a SC4M, a config.bmp.

  4. ***Updated 16/09/2007: Fixed the sea bed depth near the map edges.

This map contains the Central and East Macedonia Region in Greece. Includes Mt Olympus, the Halkidiki peninsulas and island Thasos, as well as lakes and major rivers. The terrain is mixed, with both plains (for easy development) and mountains (to challenge you), and a variety of water formations. So it is suitable for all kinds of development (industry, farms, ports, tourist etc) and has the potential of using all forms of transportation. In other words, a very playable map.
For full size preview images click on the thumbnails below:

    - Special thanks to beskhu3epnm for his advice and help, as well as for reviewing and testing this map.

The upload contains the needed plugins for the import, as well as instructions for importing the map correctly, and combining the map with rock and terrain mods. Please read the instructions carefully.
The map is quite large (13x7 large cities), and rendering may take between 30 minutes and 1 hour, depending on the speed of your computer. The config.bmp consists almost entrirely of big city tiles.
    Enjoy!

This region is part of the west coast of the state of Tasmainia and is named after the largest  town in the area.
Its mostly forrestry mining and eco tourism as the main industries and it is rugged in the east. The valleys in the east are tough to build on but are doable. most of the rest of the map is relatively flat and easy to build on.

Its size is 36 x 32 small tiles. If you want part of this map either PM me or issue a request in my features thread. Its scale is 1/3 simcity4 scale (48m distance betweene vertices)

    Trivia

This area is on the edge of the Namoi river valley about 40 km east of my hometown. It is extremely rugged terrain and is a national park with some agriculture, mining and forrest in the foot hills. NHP Mount Everest Version A
    By moganite

This is a 16 bit map of the mount Everest region
The A version of the Mount Everest region has dimensions of 40x 40 tiles There is also a second Version of the same region covering 48x48 tiles and includes the 5th highest mountain that region is pending aproval to upload as it just exceeds the 10 MB limit.

This resgion has been smothed heavily as there is a lack of data nd interpolation was used to fill the gaps. There is also evidence of blockiness due to a lack of accurate data in this region. Both of these are the result of the steepness of the area and its glacial nature over signifigant portions of the map.

The Everest A map has the slightly larger elevation range and some of the land is below water the water level is 3000 m above sea level.

    Trivia
This region is the highest overall on the planet and the lowest points on these map are more than 3 km above sealevel and almost entirely above the treeline at this lattitude. Sitting on the Chinese Nepalese border this mountain is the highest point on land and is sacred to the local tibetan peoples and refers to as Chomolungma. Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay made the first ascent of the montain in 1953.

  13. And here is the second version of the dry regions: San Fransisco’s region in many, many years, dry, deserted and empty. That region is actually another view of earth in the future, not with floods, but the opposite.
Your mission as a mayor is to give back life to that deserted region and try to do what the previous mayors did - to make such a large city.

There is enough flat room for a big city to develop plus a few steep mounts and hills. At the shoreline the land is not so easy to build, but I think it is more realistic (for a no-water situation).

The region is a regular one (16x16 km), composed of 16 large cities.

YOU NEED THE SC4 TERRAFORMER v09.c TO RUN THE REGION!!!

    Instructions:
1: Download the zip file and unzip its files in a specific place in your computer.
2: In your "regions" folder (My Documents) create a new region.
3: From the zip copy the config.bmp and replace the old one in your regions (you may edit it using “paint”)
4: Open the new region with your SC4 TF.
5: In the "Global Tools" menu select "Import Image" and browse my greyscale file named "New York 2050 v02.png". Then click OK.
6: When the region appears, click File, Save. The region will be saved in the game. Enjoy!!!

***The colours won't change unless you enter and save each city, one by one.*** In the photos above I have used Cycledogg’s Desert Terrain Mod, which gives a more realistic look, especially with the lower sea level.

Please rate, and rate fairly. Comments welcome (I would like to have a true opinion about my uploads).

For other comments, bugs, ideas etc. I have already posted in the forums in the Map Community Board Room. The topic’s name is Flooded Regions. I will soon post for the dry regions.

  14. NOW UPDATED!!!!!!!!!       PLEASE READ!!!!!

Someone told me that the Flooded version is quite the same as the real San Fransisco, and he is right!!!

So, a new greyscale image is in the zip folder, with Edited Flooded San Fransisco.

Now I think it looks much more realistic/flooded.

Note that the first image is the update from SC4 TF, but the second is the region before.

The “flooded region project” continues! Here's the second flooded region in my series in 2050.
Creator’s 2050 lots gave me the basic idea.
Now, you know the story: Most of the ice of Antarctica has melted… bla bla bla so here you have the result in San Fransisco.
Your mission as a mayor is to give back life to that deserted region and try to do what the previous mayors did - to make such a large city.

This time there is less flat room and many steep hills and mountains, making the “DreamCity” building a challenge. I have also modified the region with SC4 TF a bit, just for a better result. I also made it 16x16 km from 15x15 it was. All the cities (16) are large.

YOU NEED THE SC4 TERRAFORMER v09.c TO RUN THE REGION!!!

    Instructions:
1: Download the zip file and unzip its files in a specific place in your computer.
2: In your "regions" folder (My Documents) create a new region.

  16. Here's a personal idea of how New York's region will be in 2050.
In fact, I was inspired by creator's 2050 lots and I came up to that region.
Most of the ice of Antarctica has melted and the sea level  raised, disappearing all the seaside cities, like New York.

  17. As promised, here it is. In fact, I even posted the Config file as the secondary screenshot. After this one's posted it'll be the same with the others too. All you have to do is right-click on it and hit save as and throw it in the Break County folder as a .bmp file. NOTE: You'll need SC4 Terraformer to have this region. But then again, who doesen't have it? Oh, and yes, I still obey my two region-making laws. Good amout of water (touching at least 10 pixels worth) and a desant amount of land in each city.

Yeah, and sorry, but the config can't go perfectly, you're going to have to edit it a bit and revert it to bmp for it to work. It just has to blend when it goes jpeg.
